| Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - The Dallas Cowboys added Anthony Thomas to their stable of running backs on Monday, signing the four-year veteran to a one-year deal. Thomas joins running backs Julius Jones and Marion Barber on the Cowboys' roster. Jones is a second-year back, while Barber will be entering his first season after being selected in the fourth round of the 2005 draft. ReShard Lee and Erick Bickerstaff, a pair of third-year backs, are also expected to vie for spots on the Dallas roster this year. "Anthony will provide an excellent compliment to the other backs we have on the roster," said Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones on the Cowboys Web site. "He gives us depth and experience. His addition will make us take a long hard look at carrying four backs on the roster in the fall." Thomas, who backed up Julius' older brother Thomas with the Chicago Bears last season, ran for only 404 yards and two touchdowns in 2004. For his career, Thomas has recorded 3,337 rushing yards and 21 TDs on the ground. Earlier this off-season, Dallas released running back Richie Anderson and did not re-sign veteran Eddie George. 05/02 20:00:31 ET powered by www.sportsnetwork.com. |
