| Berea, OH (Sports Network) - Cleveland Browns tight end Kellen Winslow was released from a hospital Tuesday after spending nine days there recovering from injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident. Winslow, who left The Cleveland Clinic on crutches, issued a statement through the team. "I would like to thank my family, friends, fans, the Cleveland Browns and the staff at The Cleveland Clinic for their support," Winslow stated. "I am determined more than ever to get back on the field with my coaches and teammates as soon as possible. I'm okay and excited to be going home. I would like to thank everyone in advance for respecting my privacy as I recover." Winslow, fresh off an injured rookie season with the Browns, was riding a motorcycle when he apparently hit a curb and was thrown from the bike. He suffered internal injuries and hurt his right knee. Reports indicated that Winslow's helmet wasn't fastened safely and flew off his head during the accident. Winslow, the sixth overall pick in the 2004 draft out of Miami-Florida, had his rookie season cut short after suffering a broken right leg in a Week 2 loss at Dallas. Winslow finished the 2004 campaign with just five catches for 50 yards. 05/10 14:10:02 ET powered by www.sportsnetwork.com. |
