| St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Scott Rolen underwent surgery on Friday to repair a torn labrum of his left shoulder. He's expected to miss four to six weeks. Rolen, who was put on the 15-day disabled list Thursday, suffered the injury during the fifth inning of Tuesday's loss to Los Angeles when he collided with Dodgers first baseman Hee Seop Choi while running out a ground out to the pitcher. The arthroscopic surgery was performed by Dr. George Paletta, the Cardinals' head team physician. The procedure was done at Barnes West Hospital in St. Louis. Rolen is batting .257 with five home runs and 20 RBI this season. The injury is unrelated to the separation he suffered during the 2004 playoffs, as it occurred in a different joint of the shoulder. 05/14 01:33:58 ET powered by www.sportsnetwork.com. |
