NEWS FLASH
Wladimir targets Peter!
If Samuel Peter is looking for a fight, Wladimir Klitschko is ready and willing to oblige him. "Peter has challenged me to a fight," the former WBO heavyweight champion and 1996 Olympic Games gold medalist said. "Well, I wholeheartedly accept the challenge. Let's do it. I am ready. The question is, is Samuel Peter ready? Peter can talk the talk, but now it is time to walk the walk."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two days ago Klitschko's promotional company, K2, made an offer to Duva Boxing, the undefeated Nigerian's promoter, to fight Sept. 24 on HBO. "The offer was for more money than Peter has ever earned for a fight in his career," Bernd Boente, Personal Manager Klitschko Brothers, said. "We told Peter's people that they could decide if they wanted the fight to take place in either the United States or Germany, where Peter would even earn more money."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Added Klitschko: "It doesn't matter to me where it takes place. I want the fight. HBO loves the matchup. So now it is up to Samuel Peter. Peter says the moment of truth has arrived. I don't believe Samuel Peter can handle the truth. If I am wrong, then we can fight."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The winner of the 12-rounder would take over the #1 spot in the IBF and become the mandatory challenger for the winner of the Chris Byrd-DaVarryl Williamson heavyweight title bout. Klitschko (44-3, 40 KOs) and Peter (24-0, 21 KOs) are the current IBF #4 and #5 contenders, respectively.

Audley plans to make statement!
"Robert Wiggins is a tough opponent and my intention is simply to be the first man to stop him within the distance," says Olympic gold medalist Audley Harrison (18-0 13 KOs). "This fight is extremely important to my career as it will show people how and why I won an Olympic gold medal and show the rest of the world champions that I am the future of the heavyweight division. You can expect fireworks." Wiggins (20-4-1, 12 KOs) is coming off a 5th round TKO of Courage Tshabalala. In previous bouts against current top heavyweight contenders, Wiggins broke DaVarryl Williamson's jaw in a decision loss and lost a close split decision to Monte Barrett with only four days notice that he was going to fight. The bout takes place August 18 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, California, and can be seen on FSN'S 'Best Damn Sports Show Period.'

Mathias stops Tabtimdaeng!
By Damrong Simakajornboon
Tanzanian Anthony Mathias (14-2-1,5KOs) successfully retained his PABA superfly title as he stopped PABA#4 Tabtimdaeng Na Ratchawat (10-1,8KOs) on Monday at Porkungpao Restaurant in Bangkok, Thailand. The local news reported that the Thai contender dominated in the first eight rounds, also dropping the champion in round four. But after that, Tabtimdaeng looked weakened so Mathias wildly speeded his aggression. In round eleven, the Tanzanian successfully floored his opponent with a vicious left hook, then he displayed one-side attack that sunk the Thai fighter for a full-ten count at 1:48.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In other action, undefeated former WBA title challenger Lakhin Vasansith (24-0-2, 17 KOs) came back after seven-year layoff to outpoint a Filipino whose name reported as Dody Agrabio in a six round non-title bout. Lakhin who challenged Darung Chuwattana for the WBA bantam title in May 1995, had dropped professional boxing to compete in Muaythai events. Now, he is aiming to battle in featherweight class. Also, Sing Carryboy scored a third round TKO over Sornkom Sor Sitthichai in a six round non-title bout.

REPORT
Rasheem Brown: I'm back!
By Christian Giudice
"I'm back." That was all Philly super middleweight Rasheem "The Untouchable" Brown had to say. It was a statement from a fighter who had found the ring again. It wasn't just a throwaway statement from a fighter on the comeback scene, but a boisterous declaration of a man already reversing his career direction. After two consecutive losses, Brown (16-2, 14 KOs) needed to familiarize himself with the ring again. For a change of scenery, the faithful Philly fan headed to Patriot territory. On July 5 at the Roxy in Boston, MA, Brown used Chris Troupe as his barometer to properly measure his current standing in the super middleweight division. After knocking Troupe (9-4, 5 KOs) down twice with right hands in the first round (of the ESPN2 card), Brown patiently waited, then battered a wobbly Troupe in to submission at 2:07 of the second and final round. Two months earlier, Brown made his Roxy debut, needing only one round to dispose of an overmatched Khalif Shabazz. Nearly a year prior, Brown dropped two decisions and had reached a boxing low. NEWS FLASH

Lazcano foe named!
Lightweight contender Juan Lazcano will take on Marco Angel Perez (21-7) on August 19 at UTEP's Don Haskins Center, according to promoter Oscar De La Hoya, head of Golden Boy Promotions. The ten-rounder will top a seven-bout nationally televised fight card billed as "JUAN AT THE DON." In addition, local fighter Antonio Escalante Escalante (7-1), considered a top jr featherweight prospect, will face Ivan Cazarez (12-6), and jr middleweight Rene Armijo (4-1), who gained notoriety as a competitor on De La Hoya's TV boxing reality show, "The Next Great Champ," will battle Jesse Orta (4-5-1) in a six rounder. Tickets, priced at $20, $30 and $50, are on sale now at the UTEP Ticket Center, all TicketMaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at 915-544-8444.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For Lazcano, now 33-3-1, it will be his first fight since losing a hard fought decision back on June 5, 2004, to Jose Luis Castillo for Castillo's WBC lightweight title. Castillo has since gone on to become one of boxing's top ten, pound-for-pound fighters. "I'm well rested and ready to go," said Lazcano. According to De La Hoya, if Lazcano can defeat Perez, he will be back in the title hunt. "It is very important that a highly ranked fighter like Juan win every fight at this point in his career," pointed out De La Hoya. "If he can get through this fight and perhaps one or two more, he'll be in great position to challenge for another world title. But what he can't afford to do is lose in a situation like this. That's why he has to treat the fight with Perez as if it were a title fight. Without a win on August 19, there is no title fight anytime soon."
