| Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Former major league All-Star Lenny Dykstra has been named in a lawsuit that alleges the former Philadelphia Phillie and New York Met used steroids and was involved in gambling on the game, according to a newspaper report. Sunday's edition of the Los Angeles Times, reported that a friend and business partner, who is suing Dykstra, alleges the centerfielder "advised him to bet thousands of dollars with a bookmaker on selected Phillies games in 1993." The business partner is suing Dykstra in Ventura County, California, seeking to regain an interest in their lucrative Southern California car wash business, according to the Times' report. Furthermore, the Times reported that, Jeff Scott said he injected Dykstra with steroids "more times than I can count," and that Dykstra stepped up his steroid use in spring training of 1993 because "it was a contract year." Dykstra's lawyer denied both claims in the paper. The Times' story is just the latest link in a series of steroid related reports that have cast a suspicious cloud over the national pastime and the achievements of several of the game's biggest superstars including Barry Bonds, Jason Giambi, Sammy Sosa and Gary Sheffield, to name a few. The steroid bubble really burst when former MLB MVP Jose Canseco released a book, which identified steroid-using players by name, in February. Then, last month, the United States Congress held a special hearing regarding steroid use in baseball with MLB commissioner Bud Selig, union head Donald Fehr and a panel of baseball players, including Mark McGwire, who refused to directly answer many questions. 04/25 00:58:34 ET powered by www.sportsnetwork.com. |

| they should worry about current players who are on the juice not ones like dykstra, no one cares if he took steroids, lol. i do think it is funny though that now mlb is suspending these little guys who hit like 5 hrs a year and the ones hitting 40+ aren't even implicated other than bonds, giambi, sheffield, LMAO
