MetroStars' Guevara named MLS Player of the Week

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Midfielder Amado Guevara of the MetroStars was named MLS Player of the Week by the Professional Soccer Reporters Association for Week 5.

Guevara tallied the league's first hat trick of the season in a 3-1 win over Colorado this past Saturday. It was the most goals by a MetroStars player since June 15, 2002 when Mamadou Diallo found the back of the net four times.

Guevara came into the game without a goal, but scored twice in the first half and once more in the second. The Honduran fortunately picked up his game for the Metros, who were missing four projected starters due to injury. It was also the team's first win of the 2005 season

Guevara joins Clint Dempsey, Edson Buddle, Landon Donovan and Jon Busch as the 2005 winners of the award.

yeah guevara is a bad man....the metros got off to a slow start due to the addition of some new players and not being in sync but hopefully they turn it around now
