We have now entered the conspiracy theory phase in Germany where teams will be monitoring carefully their potential opposition, this is the case today with the conclusion of Group’s C and D, where there is no doubt Argentina and Holland would rather meet Mexico or Angola than the Portuguese, who on their day could send any team back home. The best team to exit the event so far (Ivory Coast) bid a farewell today, an exciting team to watch; hopefully they will be a force in 2010 at the FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Who to Play for Wednesday’s Games

Portugal +150 vs Mexico +225

Game 3 for Group D Wednesday and we have a beauty up first. Portugal have already clinched and are playing great soccer, scoring 3 goals in 2 games and letting in none. Mexico shocked us last game with a 0-0 draw against Angola and now must either draw or win to advance. This game has the makings of a high scoring affair and the Over is the dog today. I see no reason why 3-4 goals will not be scored and I am taking the over 2.5 +125 from BetWWTS.

Iran +150 vs Angola +175

Iran is out of this tournament already and has played very poor soccer, giving up 5 goals and scoring only 1. They are in tough against an Angola team that needs to win by 2 goals to advance and have Mexico lose to Portugal. I see Angola pulling out all the stops in this game and not only playing to win, but to win by 2 or 3-0. I am very surprised that they are the bigger dog in this game and am salivating over the +175 offered at BetWWTS. Iran lost to Mexico badly and Angola tied them, plus played solid against Portugal. I don’t know if I am missing something here, but for the life of me, I cannot understand this line. Angola wins this game tomorrow and all of us cash a +175 ticket.

Both teams have qualified to move on to the 2nd round, with stellar play. Argentina played the game of the Tournament last week beating S&B 6-0 and showing the world that this team is for real. Even though both teams have advanced, this is a big game as, whoever loses will most probably play Portugal, rather than Mexico or Angola. I expect these teams to be on their game tomorrow and trying to avoid the Portuguese. Argentina is a Dog in this game and granted Holland are good, but I will take the +110 offered at BetWWTS and hope the blue and white rule the day.

Ivory Coast +125 vs Serbia & Montenegro +225

Serbia has been one of the most disappointing teams of the tournament, losing their 1st game to Holland and then getting manhandled by Argentina. The Ivory Coast on the other hand, played really tough against the Dutch and almost pulled that game out. Neither teams are playing for anything here and Serbia probably wants to get away from this Tournament as soon as possible. I have no opinion on this game and will not be watching 1 minute of it let alone placing a bet within our sportsbook.
