Default Confederations Cup Saturday: Germany vs Brazil

Tired?

http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/stor...813162&ATT=176

NUREMBERG, Germany (AP) - As Brazil prepares to take on Germany in Saturday's first semifinal of the Confederations Cup, coach Carlos Alberto Parreira has identified another adversary for his team: fatigue.

No question this would be a problem and is a big part of Brazil's weak play so far. 1-0 loss to Mexico and 2-2 draw to Japan in last 2 games tells me nothing about their form. I think anybody can beat them now. They have to face the homeside and one of the tourney favorites Germany.

Rough

NUREMBERG, Germany, June 24 (Reuters) - The personal battle between Germany's Michael Ballack and Brazil's Ronaldinho in Saturday's Confederations Cup semi-final will typify the clash of styles of the two sides.

Should be tight.

NUREMBERG, Germany (AP) -- Germany lost to Brazil at the last World Cup final and hasn't beaten the five-time champion for 12 years.

The Germans hope Michael Ballack can do something about that.

The Bayern Munich star missed the 2002 World Cup title game in Yokohama, Japan, because of suspension. He will, however, be at midfield when the powerhouses meet Saturday in Nuremberg in the first semifinal of the Confederations Cup.

Argentina plays Mexico in Hanover on Sunday in the other semifinal. The title game is Wednesday at Frankfurt.

Germany has rested many players in anticipation of this matchup with Brazil including Michael Ballack.

I don't think so... after Brazil giving a draw to Japan it all seems to add up to something in this game and I don't like the way things are going. All the sudden the media are saying that the Brazilian team is tired, etc... It's all too iffy to me. Brazil comes out one game and beats Euro 2004 champs Greece 3-0 and then loses to Mexico 1-0. I think Germany at +0.5 could be a nice play only considering the draw a likely play here. Germany are home side, that's an advantage here as well.

Even the brazilian defenders like Cafu, Roberto Carlos and others are genreally offensive players. Brazil have no real defensive studds and Germany does. Germany play a very defensive style of game, even the forwards Ballack and Kuryani are defensive minded.

Draw is good value play here. The game could be due for some added extra time imo...
