Linetskaya's Father Arrested On Suspicion of Battery

The father of 44th-ranked Russian Evgenia Linetskaya was arrested on suspicion of battery earlier this month after an alleged altercation with his daughter that left her bruised and bloodied, according to a published report in The Los Angeles Times.

Linetskaya has not pursued charges against her father, who will reportedly be denied a credential to next week’s U.S. Open.

The 18-year-old Linetskaya suffered a cut to the back of her head and bruises to her mouth after the alleged altercation on August 5th during the Acura Classic in Carlsbad, California. Linetskaya was taken to a local hospital where the cut to her head required stitches to close, according to The Los Angeles Times report.

Linetskaya’s father and manager, 49-year-old Semen Linetskiy was taken to Vista jail in San Diego and subsequently released on bond. Linetskaya declined to pursue charges against her father, Carlsbad police lieutenant Bill Rowland told Lisa Dillman of The Los Angeles Times.

"It is her desire not to follow up," Rowland said in a telephone interview with The Los Angeles Times. "At this point, she doesn't want to move forward."

Since reaching the Rome quarterfinals in May, Linetskaya has posted a 1-7 record, including five consecutive first-round losses. To read Lisa Dillman’s story please click this Los Angeles Times link.
