| Monday: US Open, Flushing Meadows NY Now you KNOW fall is in the air guys... summer has passed us. 4* Ivo Karlovic -190 over Mardy Fish (New York) Mardy is so up and down... hard betting on or against guys like this. Unfortunate for him, he's playing maybe the worst tennis of his career right now and on top of his out of form play, he hasn't had many matches the last few months. Last match losing to the young German Kohlschreiber (who is a sub .500 hardcourt player). Mardy has a great serve but his problem has been keeping it in. He forces a lot of errors with his play and I feel breaks against Karlovic today will be rare for Mardy. Only previous h2h matchup was at the 2004 Aussie Open, Karlo winning 7-6, 7-6, 7-6. Ivo has a difficult time breaking serve as well but today Mardy 'may' give him gifts. Mardy has played 2 full matches since Roland Garros (May). He's 6-7 YTD on hardcourt and has been just as that record indicates, inconsistant. 15-13 last year. In 2003 Fish had a 29-12 hardcourt record which tells me something. Their match at the 2004 Aussie Open was when Fish was coming off an amazing year, brimming with confidence and still lost in 3 straight tiebreaker sets. At this time, at his lowest form I'll bet against here. Luckily for Karlovic he has played his best tennis the last few weeks including into the 4th round in the tourney in Washington. Beating 2 very strong servers in Mirnyi/Rusedski and forcing Roddick through a grueling 3 set match. In these 3 set matches, it's hard to maintain focus. If Mardy isn't at or near his best today I'd say Ivo in 4 sets. GL! B

| Buck, to add to your write-up; Fish isn't ready, still battling a disturbing wrist injury. HE SAID LAST WEEK (unfortunately I dont have the link for the quote, gogin off memory, cant remember the site i read it from) that he cant return serve well, it hurts, that he can ONLY BLOCK the serve back. Well THAT DOES NOT bode well for him today as he is playign one of the best, most powerful serves in the game!!! His loss last week to Phillip speaks volumes. If he wins today he'll have to do it in tiebreaks. gl my man ![]() |

| Thanks, good information... I don't think Mardy breaks anyway, sore wrist or not ![]() If he gets down I'll hope he doesn't retire as he did against Bastl a few weeks ago. B
