Default Mary Pierce said...

From Gremlin site:
It is hard to avoid remembering of the Fed Cup final France vs. Russia for the third seed of the Ladies Kremlin Cup Mary Pierce. "Of course it is fresh in my mind but I am here to win the tournament and that is first I am thinking about", Mary said to the press today.

Hahahah, very funny....she was joking of course....
I just don't like this lady...she is so confident right now....ok, no matter....
Just look at this facts:
- she didn't play on carpets since....february(Paris)if I'm not wrong......ok, maybe it's not a such difference between hards,
- what she has done here last year? quickly lost in 1 round against qualifier....the same situation as in this year, she has won some matches earlier (in 2004), and she was a huge favourite (if I remember: 1.2 odds on her last year). Now it's the same, and what's more her last games were on clay.....Ok little respect for her....she's the USO's runner up....

Well, I'm just curious what will she do for ex in 2 round against Flavia....
- Pennetta comes from a win over Dechy....and what we can't forget: a win over Juju last week. It doesn't matter how was Juju playing, but It should be mentioned here because of her raising CONFIDENCE. You know what I mean...
- I saw Flavia's two matches lately: against Hantu, and Dechy. Yesterday she was playing a decent match. She looks relaxed and she feels good on this court. Her serve is working good enough, and I would say she's very solid from the baseline.

Mary Pierce without preparation wants to win this tourney

Just looking for another upset in Gremlin Cup...

Any ideas are welcome here

good read

one thing to note though dechy carries a 9-13 record on the carpet 3 of of the 9 coming in the fed cup last year losing to myskina..

penneta has put together a nice record though 7-1 5 of those coming from when she won the oritisei in 2002 and definitly no impressive wins there..

sorry but i cant find one reason to back penneta unless her game's come out at +6.5

if pierce is over her injury issues she should win here rather easily..

one thing of note though she did loose to (q) mamic here last year in the first rnd but she was way out form

Thanks Dul, really apreciate your comments.
Agree and disagree with you....

I don't think she was out of form on that days in last year, look at her results before Gremlin:

Olimpic games Aug 22 2004
1 M Pierce - A Medina Garrigues 6-3 7-5
2 M Pierce - N Petrova(9) 6-2 6-1
3 M Pierce - V Williams(6) 6-4 6-4
QF J Henin-Hardenne(1) - M Pierce 6-4 6-4

US Open Sep 12 2004
1 M Pierce(27) - E Loit 6-1 6-2
2 M Pierce(27) - V Ruano Pascual 6-0 6-1
3 M Pierce(27) - M Sharapova(7) 4-6 6-2 6-3
4 S Kuznetsova(9) - M Pierce(27) 7-6(5) 6-2

Filderstadt Oct 10 2004
1 M Pierce - P Suarez 6-2 6-3
2 E Likhovtseva - M Pierce 0-6 6-4 6-3

Of course she's in way better form this year because of her health, agree.

Yes, I'm waiting for a handicap on Pennetta, but if I won't see at least 4,5 on her I'll skip it....

And the last thoughts: What I have to do is to not lose my subjectivism about some players....it's easy to lose it, when you comes only from forum's opinion, and sites statistics/results....... to watch the matches LIVE ON TV......you know what I mean....

Thanks again, and gl to you

Well, she certainly looked rusty in the first set, but came back real strong in the last two sets to beat Penetta... Some great returns and forehands... at least she got past first round...

Yeah, agree Dave, Pierce paid for an upsent in tour, losing first set....and then she played really good. She should have too much for Elena or Patty.

Nearly all seeded players paid loosing first sets.....should have noticed it earlier....

Naught, I think Masha is healthy, she knows she have to play better next round.....Pierce will be waiting for her in semis.
I will be watching Safina - Stosur tomorrow, so I'll rate Dinara chances against Masha too, after match....
Thanks for your good words, gl to you
