This shapes up to be a tight match as these two have split the head to head 2-2 with Potapova winning the last encounter in 2023. Both players are coasting in their last handful of matches. Potapoava had a real test last out taking down Katie Boulter in 3 sets in her last match. Gauff is 10-3 on Clay and Potapova 16-4 on clay her best surface. Potapova Broke Boulter 7 times and has been converting her first serve at a high rate, Gauff is favored to win here and she likely will but we expect well contested sets with both players holding serve at a high level and strong possibility for a 3rd set. While we are aware of the Success the Thunder have had off a loss in the postseason. We cannot back them and buck the time tested historical data. Rob notes as seen below.
