Tampa Bay's offense should be back in gear with Baker Mayfield having his strong supporting cast at full strength. The Bucs go three deep at running back and have four quality wide receivers.
Carolina should put up its share of points against a Tampa Bay defense surrendering more than 25 points a game and ranking 30th in pass defense.
Bryce Young catches a break in that the Bucs just lost their No. 2 CB Zyon McCollum for the year with a hip injury sustained last week.
Reports of J.J. McCarthy's demise have been exaggerated. Justin Jefferson may disagree, but McCarthy has been solid the last two games.
McCarthy is similar to Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart in that he is dangerous when using his legs. The Giants have allowed the most quarterback rushing yards.
McCarthy has excellent weapons and is going against a weak Giants defense that gives up the NFL’s ninth-highest passer rating, allows 28.3 points a game and ranks 30th in yards allowed.
Dart should put up his share of points as the Vikings are missing several of their versatile defenders with Josh Metellus and Jonathan Greenard both out. Nose tackle Javon Hargrave also isn't likely to play because of injury.
The Lions are fighting hard for a playoff spot after losing on the road to the Rams last week. Under Dan Campbell, Detroit is 15-5 ATS following a loss, including 4-1 ATS this season. This is the Lions' final regular season home game.
This game is not as important to the Steelers as it is to the Lions. That's because Pittsburgh can still win the AFC North Division by defeating the Ravens in Week 18.
Detroit usually takes care of margins in its victories with all eight of its wins coming by 7 or more points. The Lions' average victory margin this season is 15.5 points a game. Pittsburgh has lost four of its six games by 10 or more points.
Jared Goff has a 29-to-five touchdown-to-interception ratio and will be helped by the Steelers missing their top pass rusher, injured T.J. Watt. Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery should be able to gash a below average Pittsburgh defense that ranks 28th in yards allowed.
The Lions have some vulnerabilities in their secondary, but Pittsburgh isn't strong enough offensively to take advantage enough to cover this point spread.
