Not only are the Mammoth hot winning six of their last seven games, but they hold a strong situational edge here, too.
Utah hasn't played since Saturday. They have been home for the past two weeks.
Philadelphia, on the other hand, is playing for the sixth time in 10 days and is playing in its fifth straight different venue.
The Flyers still could be celebrating their, 2-1, road upset win against the Golden Knights this past Monday. Philadelphia had lost six consecutive games previous to that.
Samuel Ersson is pressed into full-time goalie duty for the Flyers with Dan Vladar out with injury. Ersson had a huge performance against Las Vegas. I don't see him coming up with two great games, though. Ersson has a 3.30 goals against average and an .860 percent save percentage. By comparison, Vladar has a 2.46 GAA and .905 save percentage.
Utah has been playing outstanding defense giving up an average of only 1.7 goals a game during its last seven games. Mammoth goalie Karel Vejmelka has been hot with a 1.66 goals-against average and .935 save percentage in his last six games.
The Pistons are laying big points on the road here in an obvious letdown situation. Detroit just defeated Boston, its closest challenger in the Eastern Conference, by one point at home on national television this past Sunday.
Now the Pistons have to go on the road for the first time since Jan. 4 to play the 10-35 Pelicans before returning back home for two games. I don't see the Pistons having their full concentration and motivation against the Pelicans.
New Orleans has a rest advantage having last played on Saturday. The Pelicans should be up for this game as former Pistons executives Joe Dumars and Troy Weaver are now with New Orleans.
Detroit is just 6-9 ATS as a road favorite. New Orleans has a winning point spread record and has covered eight of the last 10 times when getting more than eight points.
